(Tony, oblivious to the glorious scene behind him as he prepares a gourmet wild camp meal!)

Tony is Cumbrian born and bred. Since staring out of his window towards the fells as a toddler, he’s developed a great passion and love for the mountains. A top communicator and very adept at helping others to really enjoy the mountains.

Tony is our go to man when we’re considering risk management – as adventurous as he is, 30 years in the Fire and Rescue Services means he has a Zen like state when it comes to preventing situations arising, or dealing with them calmly if they do.

Tony has extensive experience of mountaineering in the UK having completed the Munro’s a decade ago, and he’s already half way round them again. More recently his mountain bike guiding exploits have preoccupied him in places such as Cuba, Chile, Morocco, New Zealand, Patagonia etc.  The rest of us don’t envy Tony one little bit as all that traveling to amazing places must get very tiresome after a while – grrr!

Tony holds the Summer Mountain Leader Award and is working towards the climbing Single Pitch Award. He’s also a qualified Mountain Bike Guide and Instructor, holding the MIAS Level 2 Guide & Instructor Award and a member of the Association of British Cycling Coaches. He holds a current HSE Approved First Aid Certificate and a NEBOSH General Certificate pass with credit in Health and Safety.

To sum Tony up in a nutshell, everyone could do with a Tony to hand if ever the sticky brown stuff hits the metal swirly thing!

Favourite Place:
One week he say’s it’s Patagonia, the next week it’s the rainforests of Vietnam, then its the Atlas mountains – yeah, whatever Tony, we get it and yes, we admit we’re jealous!!!

Favourite outdoor food?
Tony’s wild camping stir fry special

What do you like doing away from the mountains?
A stupid question as Tony is never away from the mountains! Non the less, Tony spends as much time as he can encouraging his little grandson in the ways of the mountain guru himself.
